El cafe es el mejor el mundo

Well, up until this point in my life, I have never consumed an entire cup of coffee. However, since Guatemala has world renowned coffee I had to embrace a liking to it. And..now..I have it everyday!! And it's dang good! I like it a lot actually. Black as black can get. One day, I even had two cups. (The consequences were severe, however. I was shaking for a good 20 minutes after my second cup) Just thought I'd let you know about this new found love. I thought maybe that I'd acquire a taste for other things like meat or chocolate. Sorry fellas, but this girl's staying a veg and an anti-chocolate lady. Can't change a dog when it's old..or however that saying goes.

  2. can i just say that i hope you dont get addicted because if you want to be a locavore when you go back home, coffee is not exactly something you can aquire locally. that said, i am glad you have found a new love. and im glad it is not meat.

  3. I'm not sure how to respond to your newfound affection for the black elixir. I actually just had a big relationship analogy all written out, but decided it was uber-ridiculous and deleted it.

It suffices to say that coffee ends up being the big self-absorbed jerk, and you're the insecure one that keeps running back to it despite the fact that you could SO do better! Really what keeps you going are the good times, and oh, are they magical.

    That was the condensed version.

  4. hmm...so let's get a couple things straight:
    Coffee is gross.
Chocolate is a gift from Heaven to my mouth.
Meat...well, that's your call. (flexatarianism rules!)

thanks for your stories...the shoe-shiner conversation was beautiful. You should write a poem about that.
I miss that part of the Earth.
    peace

  5. Ruthann - seconds after posting on your wall, I found your link to this. Though I've never been the largest fan of techonology, it's a blessing that we have the ability to learn so much about your trip. While it is happening, and when the details are still fresh in your mind.

As others have said before me, your writing is absolutely beaufiful. I always knew growing up that you would be one of those people that are special in everything they do. Because of that fact, it comes as no surprise to me to find out how truely eloquent you are. You continue to impress me. Please write more.

  6. I love that you love coffee!!! You're beginning to see the light. We will have to partake of the precious liquid together when you are back.
Miss you tons and wish we could talk... the Ann jacket is getting lots of use, i got a piercing in it, but nothing else too exciting yet. Please continue to write on your blog, makes me feel connected to you. I love you.
